Everyone knows that, like most things, baby names come in and out of fashion. Yet while there are some that have managed to stay in the baby name charts for decades, there's one that's dramatically fallen out of favour.
Among the top boys names of the 1970s, Jason has now slipped out of the top 100 after years of being a mainstay. It's one of the names to take a tumble in the Babycentre's list of top baby names for 2024.
The name first became popular in the United States where between 1973 and 1982, it was in the top five most popular names for boys.
And it remained in the top 50 most popular names until 2005. Throughout the 1970s it was among the top 20 male names in the UK.
