Police warn of 'more fines' in lockdown 3 with 'no excuses' for not knowing rules

More fines will be handed out during the third national lockdown with the police taking "no excuses" this time, Brits have been warned.

Boris Johnson last night announced England would be plunged into a national lockdown similar to that seen in March last year, and all of Britain is now facing severe restrictions.

And with some experts fearing people have become too slack with the rules, the police are expected to take a harder line even if it means being cast as "villains of the pandemic".

John Apter, chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales, said the record number of fines dished out on New Year's Eve has shown many people are too willing to flout the rules.
