Police have turned away more than 1,000 cars from a Welsh village in two days as people flout lockdown laws. Some of those visiting Ystradfellte, in Powys, Wales, said they thought the rules were the same as in England.

Dyfed-Powys Police police said 1,000 vehicles from places including London, the Midlands and Bristol, descended on the Brecon Beacons village last weekend, NorthWalesLive reports.

One Devon family who made a 350-mile round trip to the area in recent weeks said they wanted to 'look at the sea'. A doctor from London said they had gone to Powys to buy lamb.

Other stops have included 19 men who travelled from Liverpool to go camping and off-roading, a family of five and a dog from Warwickshire who wanted to have a "stroll on
