Police swarmed a street near two primary schools after a man was reportedly seen with a gun in Wigan. The man is reported to have made threats with the weapon before fleeing the scene in Billinge on Monday (April 22).
Parents from St James Catholic Primary in St James' Road, Orrell, reported a large police presence in the area and that pupils were being kept inside.
A parent who had gone to pick up their child from St James Catholic Primary told the ECHO that children weren't allowed out the school and parents were taken into the school, rather than standing in the playground.
A police helicopter was also heard by parents hovering over both St James' and Newfold Community Primary School.
