Police are still hunting thieves who hit an elderly man with his own car as it was stolen in Rochdale. The incident happened on Halifax Road in Wardle just after 11am on Sunday (May 2).

An elderly man was left with 'severe' lower body injuries when his 'vehicle collided with him in the process of it being stolen'.

His car was then later found nearby. The suspect - or suspects - have not yet been found, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said today.

The road was closed for several hours with a police cordon in place until Sunday afternoon. Items of clothing could be seen lying in the road inside the police tape as stood guard at the scene.
