A former police special constable who sexually assaulted a young girl on a theme park ride has been spared jail. A court heard Daniel Peters, 35, has now lost his job, home, girlfriend and access to his child after he attacked the 10-year-old at Gulliver's World.
He touched the youngster on the thigh and grabbed her breasts from behind when they were sat next to each other on the Alpine log flume during a day out at the popular tourist attraction in Warrington.
The victim kept what happened a secret due to fear of upsetting her parents but was so traumatised she considered taking her own life.
At Chester Crown Court, Peters faced up to seven years in jail under sentencing guidelines but was handed a two-year sentence suspended for two years when after Recorder Anthony O'Donohoe ruled he could be ''rehabilitated" with therapy.
