A local farmer had owned the ewe since she was a lamb, and her death is said to have left two lambs without a mother. Cheshire Police's rural crime team documented the horrific aftermath, in a warning to dog owners.
It is thought a dog was let off its lead before fatally attacking the sheep. Footage shows the ewe lying on the ground with balls of its fur dotted around the lifeless body.
Police are urging dog walkers to keep their pet on the lead if they are not able to see every bit of a field, and know that it's clear.
