Police have released CCTV footage after thieves stole more than £3,000 from a man inside a bank. The 24-year-old victim was targeted as he attempted to deposit the money into his account.
The devastated hotel worker had withdrawn £3,180 from the Nationwide building society on Sankey Street, Warrington, on the afternoon of June 19.
Wanting to transfer it between accounts, he took the cash in a white envelope to a NatWest across the road. But as he was using one of the pay-in ATM machines, a woman in a red coat entered the branch in a "hysterical" state and began speaking to the man in a foreign language. While his back was turned, a man in a flat cap swiped the envelope containing the money before leaving the branch. CCTV footage of the 'distraction theft' has now been aired on BBC's Crimewatch Live as part of a police appeal to catch the suspects.
