Police are investigating after trouble broke out following Manchester City's clash with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium. John Stones struck a last-gasp equaliser to earn the Blues a 2-2 draw following a bad-tempered affair on the pitch during the clash between the Premier League title rivals on Sunday evening.

Following the game, a picture posted on social media showed a man lying on the floor with his eyes closed, and blood coming from his head, surrounded by police officers outside the ground on Ashton New Road in Beswick. The Manchester Evening News understands two men were seen fighting, and that they were both Arsenal fans. One suffered worse injuries than the other with paramedics being called.

He was treated in a police van but did not go to hospital. The other man was arrested at the scene, but claimed he had acted in self-defence.
