Police on the scene after 'suspected weapons' found in popular walking spot

A police cordon is in place after reports of 'suspected weapons' which were found near to a popular walking spot. The entrance to the Fallowfield Loop on Ryderbrow Road in Gorton was taped off by officers from around 2pm this afternoon after officers from Greater Manchester Police received reports that 'suspected weapons had been found'.

The access point which is cordoned off is near Woodland Avenue and Stainton Avenue. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 2pm this afternoon (Friday 13 December 2024), we were called to reports of suspected weapons being found on Ryderbrow Road in Gorton. "A scene remains in place whilst we make our enquiries.
