The actions of a Greater Manchester Police officer captured on video dragging a homeless man in a sleeping bag along the ground 'fell below the standard we expect', the force has said.

The officer was hauled in front of a superintendent after the footage and incident emerged and told her actions were 'unacceptable'.

GMP said the officer - and other police staff - also 'received refresher training on how to deal with similar situations in the future' as a result.

The officer's reaction has also been strongly criticised by a homelessness charity.
