Police lock down A82 at Loch Ness after one-vehicle crash with 120-mile diversion in place

Cops have locked down a stretch of the most dangerous road in Scotland after a single-vehicle crash this afternoon. Emergency crews raced to the A82, on the west side of the loch, shortly after noon today, with police closing the road between Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit.

Paramedics and fire crews are also in attendance, but it is not known if there are any casualties from the crash. The SFRS teams are waiting for maintenance workers to arrive, as an electricity pole has been damaged in the incident.A 120-mile diversion has been put in place, and drivers using the A82 have been advised to use an alternative route and expect longer than normal journey times.

It is not known how long the road will remain closed.For traffic travelling northbound to Inverness, vehicles will be asked to turn and proceed southbound on the A82 to Spean Bridge.

They will then turn left onto the A86, then left again onto the A9 and follow the road to Inverness. Traffic will then turn left onto the A82 and continue to Drumnadrochit.
