Police cordon off house after residents woken by loud blast in 'arson attack'

Firefighters were called to the property on Stockport Road, on the Grove Village Estate at around 3.30am on Saturday. It's understood that the blaze is being treated as a suspected arson attack. One resident, who asked not to be named, said: "There was a loud bang about 3.30am. "I looked out of an upstairs back beer window and I could see smoke coming from the end of the row of houses. "My son phoned 999 to report the incident.
