Police have declined to release footage of officers reportedly being "extremely heavy-handed" with a female suspect in the moments before she bit one of their hands.
According to Chronicle Live, Melissa Mason was described as being "disruptive" and was placed in a cell at Forth Banks Police Station, in Newcastle, following her arrest.
A detention officer had demanded she not cover her face with a blanket, which he then snatched off of her after believing she was ignoring him.
A court was shown footage of Mason walking to the cell door where she was pushed back twice before being wrestled to the floor by one officer, with four colleagues - all who appear to be male - visible in and around the cell before one helps to hold her down.
