Pipers will gather in Larkhall tomorrow (Friday, June 12) to pay tribute to heroes from World War II.More than 10,000 members of the 51st Highland Infantry Division were taken prisoner at St Valery 80 years ago in the Second World War.They were marched to Germany, via Belgium, following the route over which the Germans had advanced against them.They were all either killed or taken prisoner for the rest of the war.The sacrifices these men made for their country will be honoured in Larkhall tomorrow (Friday) at 10am to mark the 80th anniversary of the surrender of the 51st Highland Infantry Division at St Valery.Larkhall man Duncan Brown, author of My Soldier, My Laddie, has decorated his house at 77 MacNeil Street and will play the bagpipes.
