Pink Recalls Nearly Dying From Drug Overdose Weeks Before Signing First Record Deal

Pink had a big wake-up call in the nick of time. In a candid new interview with 60 Minutes on Sunday, the pop star recalled suffering a drug overdose at a rave just weeks before signing her first record deal.

It happened in November 1995 when she took “ecstasy, angel dust, crystal, all kinds of things” and “overdosed” at a Thanksgiving event.

The 44-year-old reflected: Wow. Just weeks later, she, as the lead singer of an R&B band called Choice, “signed to LaFace Records” as “token white girls on a Black label.” The girl group didn’t last, but this was the push the So What vocalist needed to launch her solo career.
