The pilot of a light aircraft died after it crash-landed into an industrial estate. The aircraft is said to have crashed shortly after 9am in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, earlier today.
Emergency services raced to the scene, on Sheepbridge Lane near the A61, with police shutting roads in the area. Members of the public have been asked to avoid the area near land by Sheepbridge Lane while officers investigate the circumstances behind the crash.
Roads in the area are also currently closed. The family of the pilot, who was reportedly the only person on board the plane, have been informed.
A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police said: "We are currently dealing with a light aircraft that came down on land off Sheepbridge Lane, Chesterfield earlier this morning.
