His savage social media dig comes after the media pundit cased a storm of controversy for questioning the merit of the Manchester United and England goalkeeper winning the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award earlier this week.

Earps won it thanks to a public vote following a brilliant year, saving a penalty in the Lionesses World Cup Final defeat to Spain and winning the tournament's Golden Glove award.

Earps saved a penalty in the final from Jennifer Hermoso in the final and ITV shared a clip of it on Twitter, saying: “We had to bring back this legendary moment in honour of that well deserved BBCSPOTY.” But Morgan hit back with this reply: “Saving the worst penalty in World Cup history?” It comes after Morgan said on Tuesday when she got the award: "Trying to get my head around two of England's women footballers winning BBC SPOTY in successive years… while male sporting superstars with great personalities like Rory McIlroy, Frankie Dettori and Ronnie O'Sullivan have never won it.
