The Hollywood actor baffled ITV viewers as he spoke to the presenter and co-host Julie Etchingham as they hosted the proceedings live on the network.
Tom, best known for action film franchises Top Gun and Mission Impossible, was part of the star-studded line-up for the event which saw Queen Elizabeth II in attendance to watch the equestrian extravaganza at the arena close to her home.
He introduced what he said was "one of the most enthralling, thrilling, heart-in-mouth displays" as he announced a performance by The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery.
