The defender joined United from Blackburn Rovers in 2011 and won the Premier League in the following season (2012/13), which was Sir Alex Ferguson's final campaign in charge. The centre-back has not made a single appearance with Erik ten Hag in charge this term due to his physical condition and ahead of his exit he penned the following letter to fans to thank them for their support. -- I thought about how best to present my words to everyone and felt that I wanted to reach the fans who have supported me throughout my time at Manchester United.
