Former Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell hailed Walter Smith as an all-time great and a legend who transcended the most bitter rivalry in football.
The man who helped mastermind the Parkhead club's run to nine straight titles paid tribute to the Nine In A Row Ibrox boss, 13 years after seeing Smith cross the city to carry the coffin of friend and rival Tommy Burns.
Lawwell said: “Every now and then someone comes along who transcends the rivalry between our clubs. “Tommy Burns was one of those men and Walter Smith was most certainly another.
