Abbey Clancy has revealed that her and Peter Crouch's 12 year old daughter Sophia was rushed to hospital with the serious virus, meningitis. The virus, which is inflammation of the lining around your brain and spinal cord, can be life-threatening if not treated very quickly by doctors.
Little Sophia became unwell during a family trip to Portugal, leaving her frightened parents feeling "vulnerable". Abbey also told of how her three other children were also displaying flu and coughing symptoms, as she described the experience as "terrifying".
Speaking on their own podcast, named The Therapy Crouch podcast, model Abbey said: "The school holidays have been tough. "We got to Portugal and Sophia was in hospital with meningitis which was just the scariest thing on earth. "Being in a foreign hospital, language barriers, the words like meningitis being thrown around, lumbar punctures, brain scans. "It was horrific - I felt so vulnerable - and scary.
But I must say the medical care over there were just out of this world." Abbey described how the incident had happened at 1 o clock on a Sunday morning, as she sarcastically said "these things always happen" at an awkward time "just to add "fear and that scariness of the situation".
