Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage (born March 5, 1963), better known by his stage name Joe Exotic, is an American former zoo operator, internet personality, musician, and convicted felon. The former owner and operator of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park (a.k.a. G. W. Zoo) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Maldonado-Passage had claimed to be the most prolific breeder of tigers in the United States. He twice unsuccessfully ran for public office, first for President of the United States in 2016 as an independent, and then for Governor of Oklahoma in 2018 as a Libertarian.
Carole Baskin
Carole Baskin (born June 6, 1961) is an American animal rights activist and owner of Big Cat Rescue, a non-profit animal sanctuary based near Tampa, Florida. Baskin drew public attention when she was featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness about Oklahoma-based private zoo operator known as Joe Exotic. The Netflix series follows both Baskin and Joe Exotic, filming their ongoing and escalating feuds over exotic animals in private zoos. Following the series' release, Baskin has been targeted by Internet memes related to the disappearance of Don Lewis, her second husband.

PETA Urges Celebs Like Justin Bieber, Beyonce To Stop Taking Selfies With Baby Animals Following ‘Tiger King’ Release

PETA is asking for Hollywood’s help to put an end to people taking selfies with baby animals. The call for action comes after Netflix premiered their original series “Tiger King”, which told the real-life story of Joe Exotic, a big cat zoo owner, and his plot to hire a hitman to murder Big Cat founder Carole Baskin.

It also shone a light on the dangers of breeding the casts and of selfies with the babies. In a statement, PETA called out Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Cara Delevingne, The Weeknd, Jason Momoa and Hugh Jackman, who’ve posed with captive animals.
