A sprightly Border Terrier completed a 10-mile sponsored walk at the weekend and raised £1000 for a good cause - stopping at local churches on the way.Archie belongs to the Rev Mike Goodison, minister of Menstrie Parish Church. On Saturday, accompanied by Mike’s wife Fiona, Archie walked from Logie Kirk to Dollar Kirk, a distance of 10.2 miles, along the Hillfoots Path to raise money for repairs needed to the Menstrie Parish church pipe organ.Fiona, a church organist herself, stopped at each Parish Church along the way and played their organ.More than £1000 has been donated so far from supporters of ‘Archie’s Amble’ which will be used towards vital repairs for the Menstrie organ.Fiona said: “We had a wonderful welcome at every church we visited.
I am so grateful for people’s time in opening up the churches for us.“It’s a fabulous path. So far, Archie has raised just over £1,000, way beyond my expectations.“Archie was treated to a steak at The Inn at Muckart afterwards.”
