Perthshire teenager to skydive from 10,000 feet to help families in need

A Perthshire teenager is gearing up for a daring skydive later this year.Millie McIntyre, from Coupar Angus, is part of a team which is set to take part in a jump from 10,000 feet above Fife Airport in Glenrothes.Millie, who attends St John’s Academy in Perth and works in the McDonald’s fast food restaurant on the Fair City’s Dunkeld Road, is aiming to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities UK.The good cause provides a free “home away from home” accommodation for families who have a child in hospital, so they can stay close to their bedside.The most recent facility to open is based at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh and consists of 25 bedrooms, as well as a kitchen, dining room, lounge and playroom.Millie said: “I’ve always known that Ronald McDonald House Charities is McDonald’s charity of choice and have been looking for an exciting way to get involved in fundraising.“I’ve heard so many stories of families travelling right across Scotland to be with their child in hospital, so this challenge is a great way for me to help.”Helen Zollinger is a community fundraiser for the charity Millie is raising money for.She said: “Without supporters like Millie, we wouldn’t be able to keep our doors open to allow families to stay close to their children during their hospital stay.“Since our Edinburgh House opened last March, we’ve welcomed over 600 families through our doors.“Thanks to Millie and all the brave skydivers, we will be able to accommodate many more over the coming year.”Millie’s skydive is due to take place over the weekend of June 4 and 5.Places on the team are still available and anyone wishing to join in can visit the website www.rmhc.org.uk/skydive-2022 or contact Helen on
