Teams working on the development of overhead electricity lines and a new substation near Alyth donated over £4500 for two local causes.SSEN Transmission, Siemens BAM and Balfour Beatty teams made a joint donation of approximately £1500 to Food for Thought, the local foodbank in Alyth, which serves as a vital lifeline for families most in need.The donation included food items, household products as well as a new chest freezer to help reduce food waste and ensure the foodbank is equipped to help provide for people when they need it most.A total of £500 was also included in the donation for the foodbank to use to purchase supplies or equipment to benefit the foodbank in the future.Teams from SSEN Transmission and their principal contractors visited the volunteers at Food for Thought last month before Christmas to help deliver the new chest freezer and donations of food, as well as to meet some of the volunteers running the vital scheme for those most in need.Earlier this month SSEN Transmission, Siemens BAM and Balfour Beatty also donated £3000 to the Alyth Christmas Lights Association to contribute towards the cost of this year’s festive lights display throughout the village, which helps bring extra festive joy to the community.Lead project manager Archie Munro said: “Supporting the local community in which we work is very important to us, and we’re delighted to make donations of over £4500 to two very important causes in Alyth.“Foodbanks such as Food for Thought provide an essential emergency service to people most in need, so we’re really pleased that we can help out the brilliant team of volunteers there by covering the cost of a new chest freezer and donating additional food items to help at this time of year, as well
