Perthshire mum once deemed to be at risk of harm by a women’s aid charity has launched a campaign for stronger laws to protect women who have lost unborn children as a result of domestic abuse.
Nicola Murray (43) says courts should take into greater account the loss of a baby when sentencing those who abuse their partner.
Nicola, from Stanley, told the PA the abuse she herself suffered led to three tragic miscarriages. After losing son Brodie, she decided to set up Brodie’s Trust to support women who have suffered through similar experiences.And in a further mission, Nicola has set up a petition to introduce an Unborn Victims of Violence Act – or ‘Brodie’s Law’ – to create a specific offence to “enable the judiciary to adequately prosecute.
