Perth boxer Luke Bibby aims for the very top after making decision to turn professional

Perth boxer Luke Bibby has made the “dream” decision to turn professional - and has aspirations of one day winning a world title.The 23-year-old, who has pieced together an impressive amateur career, will be working under the guidance of Billy Nelson.Bibby climbed his way up the ladder at city centre-based Perth Railway Boxing Club and put in the hours and hours of training to begin making his name in the sport.Now he feels the time is right to take the step into the pro game and will stop at nothing to make a success of himself.“I feel I have had a good bit of experience internationally,” Bibby told the PA.“I’m a good age, strong, have a pro style and I’m going to suit the longer rounds and breaking people down.“I’ve been thinking about turning pro all summer.

I’m ready to give it a good bash.“I’ve always had dreams of going pro. I’ve not rushed it. I’ve taken my time and done a good bit in the amateurs.“Of course you get bad days but I’ve always kept the vision and kept grinding.“There are ups and downs, it is a rollercoaster ride but stick with it, put the work in, you get the results.

I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.”Bibby, who thanked Boxing Scotland for all the opportunities they have given him, is excited to work with Nelson.“I’ll get used to the new coach Billy and the new training style,” he said.“I’m training for more rounds and more volume, so it is different.

But I’m loving it.“Billy has coached so many top fighters and I feel he is the man to take me to where I want to be. I’ve only been training with him a couple of weeks but we gel really well.”The end game is to reach the very top of the sport and Bibby knows that is not an overnight assignment.He said: “I have aspirations of winning a world title.
