THE scenic village of Emmerdale has been plunged into the eye of the storm this week, with central characters already swept up in tragedy. With Harriet Finch dying after falling from her quad bike and Sam Dingle getting impaled on an upturned digger, the death toll doesn't stop there. In Tuesday's episode of the ITV soap, viewers saw Liv Flaherty and Vinny Dingle get crushed by a campervan on their way to the Woolpack.

Emmerdale 's director Tim O'Mara has teased that "eight or nine characters" might be killed off during the ITV soap's 50th anniversary storm stunt week. The director warned that "no one is safe" during an appearance on ITV Yorkshire, teasing: "Viewers are in for a number of surprises!" Tim said: "No one is safe.There's a possibility of eight or nine characters not being around for very long." He added: "We do go to the hospital on a number of visits - a number of people hurt by debris flying around the village, there are accidents in the woods, trees falling on people.
