World Snooker Championship winners as he gets ready to begin his 2022 campaign as the showpiece event began underway in Sheffield this weekend. Nicknamed Ball-run, the Basildon-based potter made all his own luck on his way to a historic triumph back in 2015 in which he defied odds of 50/1 to become the oldest first-time world champion in more than seven decades.Although things haven't gone all his way at the famous Crucible Theatre since, his run to the semi-finals last year and recent ninth maximum break have given him extra faith in his bid to become the 14th man to win snooker's finest tournament more than once.
