Ukraine ‘could develop own nuclear weapons’ to stop Putin in his tracks, says expert
Ukraine should start to develop their own nuclear weapons to end the Russian invasion.Volodymyr Zelensky has been advised to either build an arsenal or buy weapons in from other nations by a Loughborough University boffin. The conflict with Russia continues to rage on, having already witnessed four months of fighting that has led to the deaths of thousands of Ukrainian civilians and soldiers during the relentless bombardment of the country's cities.READ MORE: Putin worried after Ukraine’s new long-distance Kamikaze drones cause chaosFurthermore, seven million people are now understood to be internally displaced within the country whilst almost five million refugees have fled since the beginning of the Russian invasion in February.Ukrainian government officials also estimate that 1.3million of their people, including 223,000 children, have been deported against their will to Russia.Dr Paul Maddrell, an international history and international relations lecturer at Loughborough, believes Vladimir Putin's actions are designed to dismember Ukraine, weaken its military and reverse the expansion of NATO.And he also reckons the establishment of a Ukrainian nuclear arsenal could be the best method of preventing Putin from continuing to pursue those goals.
