They feed on fallen fermenting fruits that are in abundance at this time of year.“There has been a huge increase in wasp population this summer as they love hot and dry weather.“They don’t like the cold and damp, so this summer – the hottest in 50 years – has been perfect for German yellowjackets.“The nests are very active and are growing in size.
