will.i.am has applauded Love Island’s Paige Thorne and Gemma Owen for their performance of hit Black Eyed Peas track, My Humps.The pair treated their fellow Islanders to the performance as part of this year’s infamous talent show, and wore matching 00s outfits to coincide with the track’s 2005 release. Paige, 24, and Gemma donned pink cargo trousers, a black top, and matching caps with the first initial of their names on. Gemma, 19, even perfectly rapped a verse of the track – leaving Luca Bish undeniably impressed.

Black Eyed Peas over a ‘My Humps’ parody.In January this year, Black Eyed Peas’ music publisher BMG Rights Management took legal action against MGA (the company behind Bratz) over alleged similarities between their 2005 track and one sung by the Poopsie Slime Surprise: Dancing Unicorn toy.According to the lawsuit, the toys sing a song called ‘My Poops’ at the push of its heart-shaped bellybutton. However, the track allegedly ripped off the rap group’s 2005 hit, ‘My Humps’.Now, the two parties have reportedly reached “a settlement in principle” to resolve the lawsuit, according to Billboard.In the original complaint made in January, BMG said that, in additional to copying musical elements, the unicorn song featured a lead vocalist who “sounds very similar” to Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie.“My poops, my poops my poops my poops. Whatcha gonna do with all that poop, all that poop,” sings the toy.“I drive my parents crazy, I do it every day,” it continues.

BMG has sued toy maker MGA Entertainment in the US over its past marketing of a slime-making product line called Poopsie Slime Surprise with a song called ‘My Poops’, which sounds rather like the Black Eyed Peas track ‘My Humps. But with more poop.The Poopsie Slime Surprise product line was first launched in 2018 and – a lawsuit filed by BMG last week explains – “included a number of different toys, including, but not limited to, a dancing unicorn doll and a unicorn doll that excretes sparkling slime”.As for musical element to the dancing pooping toy unicorns, MGA “created a song called ‘My Poops’ that clearly copies from, and is substantially similar to, ‘My Humps'” and also made an animated video in which cartoon versions of the toy are seen “singing and dancing to the infringing work”.And it doesn’t stop there.
