Star Trek's Tincoo star Kamala Lopez opens up on 'surreal and nerve-wracking' time on show
Star Trek Voyager star Kamala Lopez recently opened up to Express.co.uk about her time on the series. The actress admitted it was a surreal experience to play Tincoo, but one she would love to repeat.Kamala played Tincoo, who was Qomar mathematician, in the episode Virtuoso. Her character was brought aboard after the shuttle she was on was damaged by the USS Voyager’s scanning beam.Tincoo soon developed a close connection to The Doctor (played by Robert Picardo) in the memorable episode.Opening up about this, she said: “That was a great experience.“Robert Picardo, who played The Doctor, is a fabulous Shakespearean actor. We had a lot to talk about, and he's just a lovely person.”Kamala continued about filming the show: “It was just lovely.“And being on the sets after you've seen them for so long is surreal - it's just surreal because it seems smaller.”She also opened up about her make-up process from the role, as her face was transformed for the part. This came as quite a surprise for Kamala, who didn’t know much about the world of Star Trek. She said: “I was not that familiar with all of it.“And I had that thing dumped on my face where they smothered me and it was nerve-racking let me tell you.“Because they put these straws up your nose, and it's like being a mummy.“And then the thing was just here [points to forehead].“I was like, ‘Did we really need to mummify me so you can put a strange butthole on my forehead?”Despite the makeup, Kamala also admitted she would “love” to go back to the world of Star Trek at some point. The star continued: “I’d love to go back.
