Tragic 'star' soldier who died in horror tank 'incident' pictured for first time
British Army soldier who died on Salisbury Plain on Tuesday (June 21) has been named as Max George, 26.The Second Lieutenant was a member of the 5th Battalion The Rifles (5 RIFLES) and was completing a training exercise involving tanks when the accident occurred.George suffered significant head injuries in the incident and died at the scene shortly afterwards.READ MORE: Russian colonel killed in 'fireball' helicopter crash after being hit by missileThe Ministry of Defence (MoD) has described him as an "exemplary" reservist who routinely "graded as the best among his peers" before joining his battalion. He finished in the top 10 when completing the tactics phase of the arduous Platoon Commander’s Battle Course.Given the range of qualifications he gained through reserve service, he joined 5 RIFLES early and "proudly took command of 13 Platoon, D Company", said the MoD.
