Actor and filmmaker John Krasinski recently opened up about why he decided to quit his role as director for the upcoming A Quiet Place Part III. While talking on the Empire Podcast, John explained why he chose Mud director Jeff Nichols to direct the third instalment of the hit franchise instead of directing it himself. “Truly the only person I had in mind when asked whether I would hand this off was Jeff,” John shared.

EXCLUSIVE: After recently dating his upcoming untitled A Quiet Place project, Paramount Pictures is looking to stay in the Jeff Nichols business as sources tell Deadline they are in development on a new untitled project from the filmmaker that he will write and direct.

A Quiet Place was a breakout hit, earning $341 million at the worldwide box office on just a $17 million budget in 2018.Now on the heels of the success of the much-anticipated sequel, A Quiet Place II, over the Memorial Day weekend, Paramount has already green lit another installment in the horror franchise.Jeff Nichols, best known for such films as Loving and Mud, will be taking over as writer and director fromJohn Krasinski, who has also starred in both movies alongside real life wife Emily Blunt.

A Quiet Place Part III is officially happening at Paramount.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, John Krasinski, 41, who also directed and co-wrote 2018 movie A Quiet Place and its’ sequel, will be producing a third film in the franchise alongside Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. THR reported that the plot details are being shared about the third movie as it will be connected to the first two movies, but nothing beyond that. For the unversed, the original film centred on a family in a post-apocalyptic world where creatures with heightened hearing used sound to devour humankind.

A Quiet Place franchise.According to Deadline, the studio has hired Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special, Take Shelter) to write and direct the film, which is based on an original idea by John Krasinski.Krasinski, known for his roles in The Office and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, co-wrote, directed and starred in the horror franchise’s first film, and wrote, directed and starred in its sequel.The release date of the second film was pushed back from its March release date due to the coronavirus pandemic, with Paramount moving it to April 2021.Details of the third film’s plot have not yet been revealed, but Deadline speculate that it won’t be a direct sequel, but instead broaden the world that the original film introduced, looking at a post-apocalyptic
