Monster 4m great white shark tries to eat family's boat after stalking them for an hour
great white shark estimated to be four metres long was caught on video trying to eat the motor on the back of a boat.In the clip, filmed off the coast of West Australia, the huge marine predator is thrashing in the water and trying to attack the motor.Terrified screams are heard as David Tuckfield, his wife Kunya, and their 14-year-old son Shelby watch the shark chomp on their boat.It fully breaches the water and seems to sniff the air before sinking its teeth into the back off the boat, then backing awayKunya, who is the one screaming, says: "Oh! He is trying to eat the motor!"She later tells a 9News reporter: "My goosebumps! I never saw a shark that large before."The family was enjoying a fishing trip on their boat on Good Friday (April 15) off the coast of Mandurah, south of Perth, when the shark appeared.It hung around for an hour, before sinking back into the depths.David told 9 News: "We had a big visitor from the deep come up, nice size white pointer."He tried to take a chunk out of the motor – we were mesmerised."Echoing his wife, David said he has never seen a shark of that size, let alone so close to his boat.The great white had tried to steal his son Shelby's catch but wasn't successful and so the family got to keep all the fish.David said: "We don't appreciate them until you see them up close and it is their playground."The shark was a "big majestic creature", he added, and seeing it was the best part of the Easter weekend.
