Julia MacCary editor Blumhouse and K Period Media have announced the inaugural fellows for its “Screamwriting” program for emerging horror film and TV writers from underrepresented groups. The program, in partnership with the Sundance Institute, provides mentorship for the participants from industry leaders including Ryan Murphy, Bridget Savage Cole, Danielle Krudy, Mike Flanagan and Crystal Liu. “Some of the most daring storytelling is being created today in the horror genre,” said Michelle Satter, founding senior director of Sundance Institute’s artist programs, in a statement. “This great collaboration with K Period Media Foundation and Blumhouse is an opportunity for Sundance to continue and expand on our existing work and support their creation of the ‘Screamwriting’ fellowship.”

Disney's highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of Mulan is quickly approaching its release date in theaters. The movie has generated a lot of buzz about what isn't there (Mushu and Li Shang).

Coronavirus is taking a toll on the entertainment industry. Amid growing concerns about the health risks, Disney is now looking for a new date to release Mulan in China, ComicBook reported. The film was originally scheduled to hit the Chinese theatres in March. The remake of 1998 animated fantasy revolves around Mulan, played by Crystal Liu, a young woman who disguises herself as a man to take her father’s place in the military service. Directed by Niki Caro, the film will release on 27th March 2020 in other countries.
