Keke Palmer, Machine Gun Kelly, Adam Sandler and more are among the stars set to be honored at the 2022 Newport Beach Film Festival.The annual film festival's awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, Oct. 16 at Balboa Bay Resort, celebrating a host of talents from the big screen.Palmer, Aubrey Plaza, Jonathan Majors, and Patton Oswalt will receive Artist of Distinction Awards, «presented to individuals known for their contribution to the arts, philanthropic endeavors, and an overriding commitment to their craft to tell unique and bold stories.» Kelly, who goes by his real name, Colson Baker, in his acting roles, and star Anna Diop will receive Spotlight Awards.Sandler will be honored with the festival’s inaugural Performance of the Year Award in recognition of his work in, Eddie Redmayne will be presented with the Icon Award at the NBFF Centerpiece screening of his upcoming film,, and director Paul Feig will receive the Career Achievement Award at a screening for Additionally, filmmaker Ron Howard will receive the Variety Legend and Groundbreaker Award, «for his outstanding creative leadership and impactful artistic achievements that have proved both visionary and enduring,» director and star Cooper Raiff will receive the Maverick Award, and star Aimee Carrero will receive the Breakout Award. The 23rd Newport Beach Film Festival will be held in person from October 13-20 and will spotlight over 350 films from around the world.

Blumhouse and Prime Video have won world rights to Sundance horror-drama Nanny, we can reveal.

Angelique Jackson When “Nanny” writer-director Nikyatu Jusu got a message from the Sundance team in late January asking to jump on a call, the first time filmmaker realized that the project must’ve won an award, which would be presented publicly the next day.First, Jusu thought that the prize might go to the film’s star Anna Diop, who’d been earning rave reviews for her performance as Aisha, a Senegalese woman who recently immigrated to America and begins working for a wealth family on the Upper East Side in New York City. Then, she speculated the prize could be for cinematographer Rina Yang’s work lensing the film, which would be a win for the whole team.

The DC series Titans has added three actors for the upcoming fourth season and they all are playing villains.

A drama about an undocumented nanny in New York City, a documentary about three exiled dissidents from Tiananmen Square and another doc about Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny won top prizes at the Sundance Film Festival. Winners were announced Friday evening in a virtual ceremony.

Premiering in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at this year’s all-virtual Sundance Film Festival, Nikyatu Jusu’s unsettling “Nanny” is a supernatural thriller that weaves together strands of domestic drama and West African folklore.

Have you ever sensed something is off in your life, and you see the signs but ignore them? Surely, that’s happened to everyone at one time or another. But have those ‘signs’ ever become so surreal and visceral you’re not sure what’s real and what’s reality? That is the core dilemma of Nikyatu Jusu’s horror drama Nanny. The film stars Anna Diop (Titans) as Aisha, a Senegalese immigrant who experiences wild and violent visions she can’t decipher. This is Jusu’s feature film debut competing in the Sundance U.S. Dramatic category.
