Personal issues outside the workplace remain the biggest reason for stress absences in East Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership (HSCP).
Personal stress accounted for almost 80 per cent of the 46 absences recorded in April. Just 18 per cent cited work related stress, with the remainder saying it was a combination of both.
The number of stress related absences increased by around a third since a previous report for October 2023. The majority of stress absences were within the Locality Health and Care, Children’s Health Care and Wellbeing and Recovery services.
A report to the HSCP’s audit committee said that the number of workers absent for more than six months had dropped by around a quarter in the same period.
