A driver has died after a crash on a main road in Cheshire this morning. The smash happened on the A523 Poynton Relief Road in Adlington, just over the border from Stockport into Cheshire, at around 7.45am today (August 7).
It involved a silver Peugeot 208 and a blue Mercedes A Class, police said. Tragically, the driver of the Peugeot died on the scene.

She has been taken into police custody to be quizzed by detectives. A stretch of the A523 remains closed this afternoon as accident investigation work is carried out on the scene.
