Person hit by train near Glasgow as ScotRail cancels multiple services

A number of ScotRail services have been suspended after a person was hit by a train near Glasgow. The incident happened this evening between Glasgow Central and Barrhead.

The individual's condition is not yet known nor are the exact circumstances surrounding the event.ScotRail has confirmed that journeys from Glasgow Central to East Kilbride, Glasgow Central to Barrhead and Glasgow Central to Kilmarnock via Barrhead have all been suspended.The firm say they are 'working closely' with emergency services while the situation develops.For stuck travellers, ticket acceptance is currently in place with McGill's Buses between Barrhead and Paisley and with Stagecoach between Glasgow and Kilmarnock.Passengers are advised to show their valid ticket or Smartcard to the driver when boarding the bus.Police Scotland and British Transport Police have been contacted for comment.
