A person has died after being hit by a train at a Scots station. Emergency services scrambled to Lenzie train station in Kirkintilloch, near Glasgow, after the alarm was raised at around 6.50pm on Tuesday.
Officers were called to the report of a casualty on the tracks.Ambulance crews attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tragic incident sparked major disruption to services across the central belt's main line.Train services between Glasgow and Edinburgh were suspended for around three hours last night as emergency crews remained at the scene.Trains between the two stations via Falkirk High and other services returned late last night.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Lenzie railway station at 18.51pm on March 7 following reports of a casualty on the tracks."Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
