If it felt like Pep Guardiola was repeating himself on Friday, that's because he was. The latest development in the ongoing case between Manchester City and the Premier League is that the trial will start next week.
It had to start at some point. And aside from that, there's not a lot more to report. City are no closer to being expelled from the league, fined millions or completely cleared of all charges.
There will be no live broadcast of the 'trial of the century' - but let's face it, would anybody really tune in for weeks of tedious evidence of accounts, emails and corporate technicalities? The trial was always going to happen and it is the vehicle to move a little bit closer to that result. Only then will we know if City did what the Premier League accuse them of.
