Scots are being urged not to miss out on £150 worth of help for their energy bills ahead of the reopening of a scheme delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The Warm Home Discount Scheme for winter 2023/24 opens nationwide on Monday, October 16, and certain pensioners should automatically have the rebate applied directly to their electricity bill.

However, unlike in England and Wales, many low-income families in Scotland will need to apply, following rule changes introduced last year, as payments are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Advice Direct Scotland, the national energy advice service for Scotland, is encouraging eligible individuals to check with their suppliers to ensure they receive the additional financial support this winter.
