Fans of iconic BBC comedy Only Fools And Horses are finally realising something about the theme tune. Many loyal followers of the show thought Rodney actor Nicholas Lyndhurst was responsible for singing its legendary song, which includes the infamous line: "But here's the one that's driving me berserk.

Why do only fools and horses work?" But in fact, the person who lent his singing voice to the track on the opening and closing credits is none other than writer John Sullivan, writes the Mirror.

Taking to Twitter, Very British Problems asked: "Did anyone else grow up thinking Rodney was singing the Only Fools and Horses theme song?" One fan quickly replied: "Yes and I was shocked when I found out it was actually John Sullivan because it sounded so much like Rodney, it's crazy." While one said: "I thought they all were, Rodney on lead and Trigger, Boycey and Denzel on backing" A third added: “Thank goodness I thought I was the only one!" John reportedly wanted Cockney pop duo Chas and Dave to sing the theme tune, but they were too busy so he was told to handle it himself.

The lyrics reference British culture and reflect the themes of the smash hit comedy show. "Stick a pony in my pocket" refers to slang for £25 pounds whereas "fetch the suitcase from the van" and "where it all comes from is a mystery", reference the Trotters' shady, cash-only business. The last bit of the song described the goods and wares flogged by Del Boy and Rodney Trotter, played David Jason and Lyndhurst’s much loved main characters.
