Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment are new health benefits replacing Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Disability Living Allowance for Children (DLA for Child) for people living in Scotland. The devolved benefits will provide financial support for young children and those between 16 and State Pension age, who are disabled, have a long-term health condition or a terminal illness.

More people in receipt of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will now start moving to the new Adult Disability Payment, according to Social Security Scotland. The devolved benefit provides the same financial support as the DWP for people living in Scotland between 16 and State Pension age, who are disabled, have a long-term health condition or have a terminal illness.

People in Scotland planning to make a new application, or need to upload supporting evidence for Adult or Child Disability Payments, over the weekend may have to wait until Monday due to planned IT downtime from Social Security Scotland. The devolved welfare department said “essential maintenance” will be carried out from the afternoon on Friday, June 2 until midnight on Sunday, June 4.
