People left terrified as car explodes in suspected early hours arson attack

One woman described hearing an explosion, then going outside and finding a vehicle on fire near the junction of Mona Road and Fields New Road in Chadderton, Oldham.

Police are treating the fire as an arson attack and say no one is believed to have been injured in the incident. Helen Ward, 32, a Mona Road resident said: "Around midnight whilst watching TV I heard a bang. "At first I thought a car had collided into something but when I looked out of the window I could smell something burning. "I went outside to look and saw the car on fire.
