Pensioner mowed down by car as cops race to horror Edinburgh crash

pensioner was mowed down by a car sparking traffic chaos in Edinburgh. Police and ambulance crews raced to Duke Street in the Leith area after reports of a man being hit by a motor near the Tesco store on Wednesday.

The alarm was raised just after 11am. The pedestrian, aged 78, was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.The nature of his injuries and current condition are yet to be confirmed.Police closed down Duke Street to carry out enquiries.The road was reopened at 1pm.

Locals told our sister title, Edinburgh Live of hearing 'screaming' before police descended on the scene. One said: "I didn’t see it thank God."A pedestrian was hit by a car outside the Tesco."It was awful."Another added: "I was just doing my shopping.
