Cynthia Onyedinmanasu Chinasaokwu Erivo (born 8 January 1987) is an English actress, singer, and songwriter.

She is known for her performance as Celie in the Broadway revival of The Color Purple, for which she won the 2016 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, and the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Musical Performance in a Daytime Program, the latter two she shared with the rest of the cast.

Erivo ventured into films in 2018, with roles in the heist film Widows and the thriller Bad Times at the El Royale. In 2019, she portrayed abolitionist Harriet Tubman in the biopic Harriet, for which she earned nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Paul Mescal Manifests Barbenheimer 2.0 With ‘Gladiator II’ & ‘Wicked’ Same-Day Release & Coins It As ‘Glicked’

Paul Mescal hopes the same-day release of Gladiator II and Wicked will be the sequel to Barbenheimer. Last year, Barbie and Oppenheimer were released on the same day, becoming a box office phenomenon.

The Greta Gerwig-directed film opened with $162M, and the Christopher Nolan film opened with $82.4M. Mescal is manifesting that audiences will go to the box office later this year to see both films on the weekend starting Friday, November 22. “Wickdiator doesn’t really roll off the tongue does it?

I think my preference would probably be Glicked if it has a similar effect to what it did for Barbie and Oppenheimer,” Mescal said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Mescal continued, “It would be amazing ’cause I think the films couldn’t be more polar opposites and it worked in that context previously.
